My Initial Thoughts on Operation Absolute Resolve

My immediate reaction to Operation Absolute Resolve is that I view Maduro's removal from power favorably. I consider the action consistent with historical presidential unilateral decisions.

I believe U.S. intervention better fills a power vacuum than the alternatives. That said, I don't think the expectation should be that a democratic government takes over or that we see the full demise of the Maduro regime.

I advocate for U.S. military strength demonstration and believe the nation shouldn't require international approval. If you don't use the power you have, you will lose it.

Regarding whether this sets a precedent for other nations: when the U.S. is proactive on the world stage, it actually discourages others from being aggressive.

Overall, I'd put approximately 2-to-1 odds favoring positive outcomes for Venezuelans, the Americas, and the United States. Though I acknowledge the uncertainty inherent in any action.
